Women's Clinic
Who's it for?
Adult women drug users residing in Bradford who require information, advice, support or treatment.
What we offer
This service is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team which includes: social workers, a dual diagnosis nurse, a counsellor, doctors and a physical health nurse. Our aim is to offer a service that reduces the harm illicit substance use can cause to women, families and the community. A proportion of clients using this service are women who are currently, or have previously, worked in the sex industry. The clinic works with over 100 clients at any one time.
We hold a prescribing clinic on Thursdays between 10am and 9.30pm. However ongoing casework is offered throughout the week. Clients are given a comprehensive assessment for their substance use and a thorough physical health assessment via the physical health team at Bridge. Sexual health screening, testing for blood borne viruses and immunisation against Hepatitis B are offered as a matter of course. Needle exchange and condoms are also made available to all clients. Safety information and rape alarms are available to all women involved in sex work.
Advice and information with regard to safer injecting or alternatives to injecting are a part of each and every client’s care plan.
