Young Persons’ and Family Service
Who's it for?
Any young drug user up to the age of 19, or their families, residing in Bradford.
What we offer
A variety of services are available at Bridge, including a substitute prescribing clinic for opiate users and family therapy, which are provided by Bradford CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).
In order to ensure that young drug users are offered a holistic service, whilst bearing in mind the law relating to child protection issues, all our staff possess qualifications in social work, nursing or youth work. There are also close links with social service departments and some joint work is carried out with the Drug and Alcohol team outreach workers, who will undertake home visits and support young people in attending appointments by providing transport. The project maintains links with a number of organisations in the area who also support young people, including housing providers, independent living teams, Turnaround (an organisation that advises young women who may be at risk of being drawn into prostitution) and other voluntary and statutory groups.
Support is also offered to young people who are affected by another’s drug use, and a pilot group for 8 to 13 year olds whose parents use drugs is currently being run. Adult carers and parents can access the same type of support from a dedicated worker based at Bridge.
